INVESTMENT FOR INDUSTRIAL TRANSFORMATION AND EMPLOYMENT (INVITE) TRUST

The Government of Uganda (GoU) set up the INVITE Trust, as a special purpose vehicle to provide affordable debt financing and other credit enhancing instruments that address financial constraints faced by the manufacturing and export sectors.

The INVITE Trust shall provide the credit enhancing instruments directly and indirectly through regulated Financial Institutions (FIs) to entities along the manufacturing and export value chains. The credit enhancing instruments of the Trust include: 

  • Working Capital Facility for the benefit of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) along the manufacturing and export value chains. The working capital facility shall be provided through regulated Tier II, III and IV Financial Institutions.
  • Receivables Financing Facility. The Trust shall provide financing to MSMEs along the manufacturing and export value chains based on their receivables. This facility shall be implemented through a factoring company which shall buy invoices issued by the MSMEs at a discount in respect of sales to large buyers.
  • Credit Guarantee Facility. The Trust shall provide partial credit guarantees to regulated Tier I, II, III and IV financial institutions by covering up to fifty percent (50%) of the loans extended by Participating Financial Institutions to MSMEs along the manufacturing and export value chains
  • Long-Term Subordinated Loan Facility. This facility shall provide financing in the form of subordinated convertible long-term local currency loans to both private and public-sponsored projects.
